One of my minion Ambavatars recently went on a trip to JAPAN with a friend of my mom’s named Sachiko Akikawa-Bauer.
Those of you who were lucky enough to make it to my Benefit Concert will remember her as one of the ladies who played the violin duet.
Here are some photos from the trip with descriptions by Sachiko. Click on the thumbnails for a larger picture.
The minion and his first Japanese/Western breakfast. (Bowl of rice with seaweed and pickled plum, sausages and eggs.)
Vending machines are practically everywhere in Japan! Minon buying a drink with his new vending machine card! (This machine will not take coins. It only takes bills and a special card.)
Minion decided to get in on the fashion show. Mannequin dressed in a Kimono for New Year’s.
Minion has acquired a lower life form to do his bidding. Bucky is “Barks Very Loud 2”!
Me holding the Minion on New Year’s Day before visiting my grandparents.
Minion approving my mother’s Calligraphy work and learning how to write his name. . .upside down.
An older Japanese house. The roof shingles all used to look like that. Now they look the same as they do here!
Bus stop in Japan. The laminated sheet of paper tells you what times the buses come and the blue part is for Saturdays and the pink part is for Sundays. Very convenient and no need to call Go Time!
Bamboo trees. About 30 meters or so, tall.
Minon at the subway station after getting off the train.
Minon and lady at the Bento box (lunch box) store.
Minion at the Kabuki Theater. Plays put on by only men!
Minion enjoying the snow. It snows in Yokohama too! (Sometimes) We got 10 cm and everything came to a grinding halt. . .
WOW! What a great look at Japanese culture! Nihon ha subarashii kuni desu. (Japan is a wonderful country!)
Thank you Sachiko for sending me these great photos of your homeland!
